An emphasis is placed in all of Adoption, Fostering and Kinship Alliance Scotland's (AFKA Scotland) work on the need for a multi-disciplinary approach that enables social workers, lawyers, health professionals and educators to work effectively across professional boundaries in order to meet the needs of children and their carers. As a membership organisation, AFKA Scotland helps to give agencies and individual members a national and regional voice and contributes to the development of policy and practice at a local and national level.


AFKA Scotland is an independent, charitable organisation dedicated to improving outcomes for children in care by providing support to all those working in the field of adoption, fostering and the care of looked after children. AFKA Scotland provides services in collaboration with CoramBAAF.

Scotland’s Adoption Register



Scotland’s adoption register has a remit to facilitate family finding across Scotland with the aim of increasing the numbers of children that are placed for adoption and to make the linking and matching process work as well as possible for children and prospective adopters. There are a number of family finding services provided at no cost to agencies



Adopter and child led
matching events.



Opportunities to bring prospective adopters into direct contact with information about some of the children who are waiting for a new forever family are done through Adoption exchange days and adoption activity days
